Late 1984 – Steve and Jill met on a construction site (building a bypass around Stanstead Abbotts in Hertfordshire). Jill was working for the client (Hertfordshire County Council) whilst Steve was working for the contractor (John Mowlems).
15th May 1985 – There was a celebration held in the local pub to mark the opening of a new bridge. Following a few drinks, and then a few more drinks at the free bar (there was at least one bottle of vodka involved!), Steve & Jill’s colleagues engineered them leaving the party together knowing that Jill had been admiring Steve from afar ever since she had first sight of him…..
